Starting a new company is not easy.

You’re pushed out of your comfort zone(obviously).

There are no more rules. It’s up to you.

Your security of a set salary is no longer there.

And luck doesn’t just fall into your path.

One month goes by aInsightsnd then the next month goes by and you start thinking “what am I doing here?”.

And then you’re forced to dig deep. What isit that I stand for? How will I add value to people in a world full of other marketers?

The answer is quite simple, really.

I started The Reality Is a few months ago. I felt the wave of potential clients wanting quotes but never pulling through. Interest that was there but then faded away. Exciting conceptual meetings that turned into nothing. Empty days with very little going on. But I carried on and pushed harder. This didn’t make me want to give up,certainly not just yet.

I began to market the company more. Became more vulnerable and stepped fully out of what I’ve always known. During these past months I’ve had to think a lot and do a lot of digging. My research has grown, and I’ve learnt a huge amount. And while I’ve been thinking and living this experience, I’ve wondered about what makes someone succeed vs someone that fails. And while I’m thinking and learning and developing, the same words echo in my head, “persevere”.

The difference between someone succeeding, and someone failing is quitting. If your goals are not set up and you cannot see them, it’s very hard to know when you are fulfilling the small milestones. Each small milestone is a step closer to the bigger goal and if you can’t see that, then it’s easy to give up or find it too hard.

Sure, it’s easier to give up before you canbe rejected. People are petrified of not being good enough or making a mistake and failing. We want to be remembered for our brilliance and how we are different, but that doesn’t just land on your lap. The little, sneaky, very important trait of perseverance is what you need to keep reminding yourself.

That’s the most important part of the process. It’s part of your path leading to your very clear goal that you’ve envisioned, and you can see so clearly. And as I live my day-to-day life which sometimes includes failure or rejection, or things just not turning out the way I would like them to, I can see my end goal very clearly and so all the noise around me doesn’t consume my life and it doesn’t distract me. The world is full of successful failures. If Oprah Winfrey, JK Rowling and many others can do it,what’s to say that anyone else cant?
